Ms. Azevedo wants to make sure everyone has the opportunity to go to prom if they want to. If you would like to attend prom, but can not afford to go, please see Ms. Azevedo to discuss the options.

 

Applications for ASB Appointed positions are due this today, April 29th. Please turn your completed application in to Mrs. Parry in room 54.

 

Parks and Recreation is offering a lifeguard training course May 2nd-May 6th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and May 7th from 8 am to 5pm.  Packets are available in the counseling office.

 

Seniors – If you have NOT ordered your cap and gown for graduation you have until tomorrow, April 30th! This is the ABSOLUTE LAST DAY TO ORDER. Please stop by the counseling office if you need additional information.

If you did not pick up your paid Jostens order last week, please see Miss Rider in the counseling office.

 

CAREER LUNCH: Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the Learning Center during lunch period. Interested in a business career? Come hear and ask questions of Bob Concienne, Vice President of Operations for Yosemite Hospitality (Aramark) about hospitality careers and the role Business Development plays.  Bob was a key contributor to the winning bid for the Yosemite National Park concessions contract. Please sign up by May 2 to receive a free lunch. Feel free to sign up after May 2nd, but kindly bring your own lunch.

 

Yearbooks on sale in room 7 for $65. Reserve your before they sell out.

 

Attention seniors! In order to go on the Senior Disneyland trip or receive your diploma, all fines, fees,  and detentions need to be cleared.  Check with Mrs. Bryson in the Student Services office to find out where your account stands.

COUNSELING/GUIDANCE NEWS

 

Seniors:  Remember that this Sunday, May 1 is the deadline for many four year colleges to accept their offer of admission.  If you are planning to attend, and don’t accept by that date, you can lose your admission spot.

 

The CSU Dominguez Hills is offering an inexpensive online Young Scholars Program that enables high school juniors and seniors earn college credit. If you would like information on the program, please stop by the counseling office.

 

Students in AP classes.  Fees for your ap tests are due in the counseling office Monday, May 2. Get your fees in before testing starts.


 

SPORTS REPORT for the week of April 25, 2016

 

If you are interested in becoming a cheerleader, or wearing the Grizzly Mascot costume, this could be a great opportunity for you! Cheer and Mascot tryout PRACTICES will start, Monday, May 2nd, through Friday, May 6th, 3-5 PM, and Monday, May 9th through Thursday, May 12th, 3-5 PM. Try out day is Friday, May 13th starting @ 3:30. All held at MCHS. In order to try out, you must pick up an Athletic Packet in the Attendance office, fill out the entire packet and have a current sports physical. Return to the school office by Wednesday, April 27th so the school can clear you to participate. If you are not cleared by Monday, May 2nd, you will not be allowed to try out for the 2016/2017 season. There is a pre-tryout meeting @ MCHS @ 5:30 that you and your parent/guardian should attend to gather all the information for the tryout process, and up-coming season.

HOMEWORK HELP & TUTORING AVAILABLE

 

Are you in need of Tutoring? The Learning Center has student tutors available Monday through Thursday after school from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Tutors assist in all subject areas. Sign up at the front desk in the Learning for help the following day. One Mariposa tutors are also here on Thursday. They can assist with AP level classes!


The Learning Center is open at 7:45 before school and at lunch to check out books, work on homework, print out homework, get help with homework, or make an appointment for tutoring. Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. Long are ready to help you. The Learning Center is open after school every day until 4:20 for homework time or tutoring services.

Hóla Spanish Club! Cinco de Mayo is coming up soon, there will be a Spanish Club meeting today (4/28) at lunch in Mr. Yancey's to discuss our Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. ¡Hasta la vista, we hope to see you all there!

Guest pass forms for the Prom are available in the Student Services office.  If you are planning on inviting an MCHS underclassman to the prom this year, you will need to pick up a guest pass request and have it approved.  Remember that guest passes have to approved prior to purchasing the prom ticket.
