For all freshmen interested in taking Soph. Honors English next year, there is a MANDATORY meeting at the beginning of lunch in Finney's room 52 on Thursday.  You need to attend  to pick up the summer assignment.  Roll will be taken.

Students - Remember the student sore has the supplies you need for those end of the year projects! Poster board, pens, flash drivers and more! See mrs. Carter to purchase your items.

The girls soccer banquet will be held at River Rock at 6:30 pm on Tuesday 5/28. It is a pot luck.  Bring either a main dish, desert or side. River Rock will be selling drinks.

LAST DAY for the Late bus will be next Thursday, May 30, 2013.

ASB appointed officer packets will be available at lunch through Wednesday.  The deadline to turn them in has been extended to Thursday, May 23rd.  Please turn in your completed packet to room 28 or Joe Shackleton.  See Joe if you have questions.

MERCED COLLEGE CLASSES:  Now is the time to sign up for next fall’s Merced College classes to ensure a seat.  The courses offered are Drama 01, Hist 17A, Mus 14, Psyc 23, and Span 01.  These courses are free for our students except for the cost of the book and a small health fee.  Please see Mrs. Mason if you are interested in taking one of these classes.

Track and Field: Turn in your uniforms at lunch on Monday and Tuesday.

Someone left a black Esteban 19 watt guitar amplifier in Mr. Burns’ room 54. This was from a lunch time jam session.. Please come pick it up.  Thank you.

Juniors:  If you are planning on taking Senior Advanced Placement Language and Composition, you must attend a MANDATORY MEETING Wednesday May 22nd at lunch in Mr. Starchman’s Room 1 to receive the summer assignment and learn about the expectations for the course.

Sophomores:  If you are planning on taking Junior Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, you must attend a MANDATORY MEETING today at lunch in Mrs. Dobson's room 59 to receive the summer assignment and learn about the expectations for the course.

Reminder from the Library: ALL LIBRARY BOOKS are due back on May 28th. There will be no check-outs or renewals after that time, but fines will continue to accumulate until you return your books. Please come to the library prepared to pay your fines. Books not returned at the end of the year will be charged as lost books and fines will be carried over until next year. Let’s get all books returned and fines paid by May 28th!!

Spanish Club – If you are interested in attending the end of the year Fiesta contact Senor Yancey.  The party will be the evening of May 30th.

YEARBOOK INFO:  Aren't sure whether you purchased a yearbook?  View the list.  $65/Rm. 7.  http://freeverse.wikispaces.com/2013yearbooks-purchased

class of 2013 cap.jpg

Seniors – There are over 30 of you that have not ordered a cap and gown.  Please understand that you must have a cap and gown to participate in the graduation ceremony.  If you are using a cap and gown from a prior year please make sure it is the correct color green.  If you would like to purchase a tassel, they can be purchased from Mrs. Nabors for $8.

Seniors: you must make sure all your fines are paid today to go on the Disneyland Grad Nite trip.

If you are thinking about applying for the North/South Rotary scholarship – please see Mrs. Hibert in counseling.

Seniors going to Disneyland must be at school by 8:00 on Wednesday.  Please remember to line up your bags and anything you plan on taking on the bus in front of the school along the rock wall and sidewalk.  If you miss the search because you are late, you either (a) don't go or (b) go without any of your things.  Remember that anything you bring on the bus will be stowed in your seating area.  The buses are full, so there will not be any empty seats.  As of now, the weather forecast looks good in Anaheim - 75 degrees during the day but dropping to a low of 59 at night, so bring layered clothing since it will cool down.  Comfortable shoes are highly advised.  MCHS dress code rules apply, as well.  Remember as well to bring spending money for dinner in the park and anything else you might need to purchase once we disembark from the buses.  Review Disneyland's rules for dress and behavior that you received at the meeting before we leave, so you know their expectations.  Movies that you want to watch on the bus need to be turned in to Mrs. Dobson or Mr. Yancey by Tuesday 3 p.m.

2013

Seniors going to Disneyland:  if you would like to have a movie to watch on the bus, your films must be submitted for pre-approval to Mr. Yancey or Mrs. Dobson Today.

Seniors: you must make sure all your fines are paid today to go on the Disneyland Grad Nite trip.

Seniors going to Disneyland need to turn in their permission slips signed by a parent today to Mrs. Dobson or Mr. Yancey.  If we don’t have it, you don’t go!

SENIORS!!  Please check out the Scholarship Website – The North/South Rotary Scholarship deadline has been extended to June 1 as well as the number of scholarships that will be awarded.  It has gone from ten to sixteen awards to twenty awards.  A MCHS student stands a very good chance of receiving one of the $1,000 scholarships.  Another change is the turn in process - a reprenstative from our local Rotary group wants to help with the submissions!  Be sure to let Mrs. Hibert in the counseling office know if you plan on applying she can help you with the essay prompt and to schedule time with the local representative from Rotary.  The “football” part of this scholarship only has to do with how Rotary raises the money to give the scholarships.  You do not have to be a football player.  We want Mariposa to do well…..go GRIZZLIES!!!
